GAZI UNIVERSITY (Turkey)

Gazi University (GU) is one of the few universities with history dating back to 1920s. Today, GU (TRANKARA02) has 21 faculties, 16 vocational colleges, 48 research centers, a state conservatory and 7 institutes, which carry out research and education activities. It is one of the best 500 universities of the world, provides high quality education.

Ranks 7th among 20 best preferred universities in the central entrance exam. GU, together with Ankara and Hacettepe Universities has a joint-graduate program. Gazi University puts all potential efforts to fulfilling the requirements of the Bologna Process to which Turkey became a party to in 2001. GU is a member of the European Universities Association (EUA). Presently it is active in FP7 (7 projects), Erasmus+ (5 KA2, 12 other EU projects), 180 bilateral international collaboration protocols and dual-degree programs. GU has been successful in the LLP LdV projects with highest number of support received among Turkish Universities on several occasions. Gazi Faculty of Education (GFE) alone is almost equal in size to a smaller university. The Faculty offers vocational education, health, pharmacy, architecture, civil and electrical engineering, economics and tourism. It is one of the primary higher education institutions for physical education teachers, trainers and sports management and recreation programs. The Environmental Sciences Department, Faculty of Medicine together with Faculty of Health Sciences are the activities and experience of GU directly related to this project proposal since they are all active in health sector, ICT application in education, biotechnology, ecology and agri-food science. The main objective of GU is to enhance the capability of conducting integrated inter-and multi-disciplinary studies for solving problems related to improved skills and competence in contemporary learning society. As a partner in the BIOTECH-GO project, GU is responsible for the elaboration of BIOTECH-GO National case studies, development and translation of projects results in TR language, actively contributes to creation of Blended learning training program in bioinformatics and definition of training modes. GU participates in the dissemination and use activity, project results testing and evaluation and final analysis on BIOTECH-GO project impact.
